OTHER: Kolkhoznitsa is a Russian heirloom melon that was just brought to the US in the 90s. It is still a very popular melon in its native land, & is gaining popularity here as well. The fragrant melons have a golden rind & sweet creamy white flesh. They are round in shape, & weigh between 1 – 2 pounds at maturity. The plants are compact (they can be grown in containers!) & typically produce 3 melons per plant. Maturing quickly, Kolkhoznitsa is a great choice for northern climates with shorter growing seasons & also because the plants have a good cold-hardiness.
